Introducing the project
Approximately 12% of people of active working age in Hungary and Serbia live with reduced work capacity. Their presence in the labour market is unfavourably affected by their health conditions, and their opportunities of employment are significantly worse than those of the average population.
Their employment largely depends on how and to what extent they are restricted, and whether they receive the support needed for their employment and integration. Besides the individual’s knowledge, capabilities, skills, needs, interests, and mode of work, it is important to be aware of the special characteristics resulting from their own situation. The purpose of the grant is to prepare specialists working with the target group for a systemic approach, and to prepare the environment of the prospective employees for receiving them.
Activities included in the project
Participants of the survey: organizations from the public, private, and non-profit sectors in Csongrád county and the agglomeration of Kanjiža
Research areas: to survey
- the willingness of the organizations to employ people with reduced work capacity,
- the information related to
- their employment,
- the quality of their work conditions,
- and the factors helping or inhibiting their employment and integration.
Preparatory training for mentors
Objective: individual-oriented help for people with reduced work capacity in the labour market
Potential areas of support:
- employment facilitation
- support in work activities
- help in retaining employment
Sensitization of employers
Method: transfer of information (concept of reduced capacity to work, its categories, target group-specific items, conditions of employability, conditions facilitating integration, legal environment, risk factors, obtainable benefits)
Mentors’ services provided to the participants of the labour market
Regarding the person participating in the integration process:
- selection of the person
- exploring their status and opportunities in the labour-market,
- assessing their capabilities,
- promoting their development and offer personal support to them,
- strengthening and following up their capabilities required to be employed and integrated, as well as retain their jobs.
Regarding employers taking part in the research who are open to employing people with reduced capacity to work and participate in the sensitization programme:
- making contact
- clarifying the areas and
- methods of cooperation.
Our goal is to improve the employment status of the target group via the “right person into the right position” principle.
In order to achieve successful integration, mentors cooperate with the families of people included, as well as with the agencies, organizations and individuals providing support services.
Development of a protected environment
The development of the instruments of the organizations – as protected workplaces – carrying out the project helps them adapt to the individual needs of the employees with a reduced capacity to work, retain their employment, maintain the workplaces successfully, and widen the range of job opportunities. With more professional trainings for the target group, they can help the organizations expand their scope of activities.
Within the framework of the project, a 3-day study tour is going to be organized for the professionals of Hungary and Serbia. Objective: to observe the operation of the social farm employing people with reduced capacity to work, and exchange of experiences for later adoption.
